The Seamstress

The art of
the perfect fit.

After 11 years perfecting gowns at one of Sacramento's premier bridal shops, Elaine wanted to create a more personal, one-on-one experience for her brides. Today, she works from her private in-home studio, bringing over 40 years of professional sewing experience directly to your dress.

Her business began at a single sewing table with a pair of shears and an absolute unwillingness to let any bride wear a gown that doesn't truly fit her. Elaine only takes on a limited number of brides because a gown that moves with you, holds you, and photographs like a dream simply cannot be rushed. From your first fitting to the final pressing, she personally guides every hem, and your dress never leaves her hands.

    Timeline & Scheduling

Tell us your wedding date first. We recommend beginning the alteration process three to four months before your big day — plenty of time to make your dress look perfect, with nothing left to the last minute.

  2. 02

    The Fitting Process

Most gowns are completed in two visits:

    • First visitYour initial fitting. Please bring your wedding dress and the exact shoes you plan to wear on your wedding day.
    • Second visitWe check the fit and perfect every detail. Minor adjustments are often handled right away; if the dress needs more significant work, we will schedule a third visit.

    Getting a Quote

For an estimate, send photos of the entire dress hanging up — showing the front, back, and sides — along with a list of the specific alterations you have in mind. We'll provide an estimated quote from your photos, and confirm the exact price during your first visit.

    Location

We are located in the 95828 area of Sacramento, California, and see brides by appointment. Please keep this in mind as you plan for your fitting visits.
